About the Role
We are seeking a talented and versatile Software Engineer to join our dynamic studio team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the web applications, e-commerce platforms, and digital products that power our clients' online presence. You will work closely with our design, strategy, and multimedia teams to build scalable, high-performance solutions — from brand websites and landing pages to e-commerce stores and mobile applications — ensuring seamless user experiences that align with our clients' brand and business objectives.
Key
Responsibilities
1. Software Design & Architecture
1.1 Research, analyse, and evaluate system requirements and technical specifications for client web applications, e-commerce platforms, and digital products.
1.2 Design and develop software architecture, including front-end and back-end structures, databases, and API integrations, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
2. Application Development & Programming
2.1 Develop, code, test, and maintain responsive websites, web applications, and e-commerce solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, React, Node.js, PHP, Python).
2.2 Build and customise content management systems (e.g., Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify) and develop custom modules, plugins, and integrations to meet client requirements.
3. Multimedia & Interactive Integration
3.1 Collaborate with the multimedia team to integrate video, animation, motion graphics, and interactive elements into websites and digital platforms.
3.2 Optimise multimedia content and interactive features for web delivery, ensuring fast loading times, cross-device compatibility, and seamless user experiences.
4. Testing, Deployment & Maintenance
4.1 Conduct software testing, debugging, and quality assurance to ensure applications meet functional and performance standards before deployment.
4.2 Deploy applications to production environments and provide ongoing maintenance, updates, and technical support for client platforms.
5. Collaboration & Client Communication
5.1 Collaborate with project managers, designers, strategists, and copywriters to translate creative briefs and brand concepts into functional technical solutions.
5.2 Participate in client meetings, presenting technical concepts and incorporating feedback to refine and deliver final products that exceed expectations.
6. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
6.1 Stay up-to-date with emerging web technologies, frameworks, and development trends to continuously bring fresh, innovative solutions to the studio.
6.2 Research and recommend new tools, techniques, and technologies to enhance the agency's development capabilities and creative output.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related field.
2. If the above qualification is not met, a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in software development, web development, or a closely related technical role is required.
3. Strong proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar).
4. Experience with back-end development (e.g., Node.js, PHP, Python) and database management (SQL/NoSQL).
5. Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., Squarespace, WordPress, Shopify) and e-commerce development.
6. Solid understanding of web design principles, UX/UI, and responsive design.
7. Experience in optimising websites for performance, SEO, and cross-browser compatibility.
8. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and directly with clients.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced studio environment.
10. Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows is essential.
11. Experience with mobile app development (iOS/Android) is advantageous.
