Job description

About Us

At GPOS, we are on a mission to simplify hospitality and retail management through our flagship product, GoMenu. We build an all-in-one, cloud-based Point of Sale ecosystem that integrates online ordering, self-service kiosks, QR table-side ordering, and real-time data analytics for over 5,000 businesses across New Zealand. We are looking for an engineer who is not just a coder, but a problem-solver ready to tackle the complexities of real-time transaction processing, device integration, and offline-first system design.

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to design and implement robust software architectures that power the GoMenu platform. In this role, you will be instrumental in building scalable solutions that handle high-volume transactions, synchronize data across multiple channels, and ensure seamless integration with third-party payment gateways and kitchen hardware. You will work on the critical backend systems that keep our 5,000+ clients running smoothly, even when they are offline.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software Architecture Design and Implementation

a. Design and implement software architectures for assigned modules based on product

requirements and technical specifications. Solutions must be compatible with multiple

environments, including but not limited to the iPad POS terminal, Android Kiosk, GoMenu online ordering website, and merchant backend management systems.

b. Ensure that design solutions meet the technical requirements of the system, specifically

addressing high-concurrency transaction processing, offline data synchronization, and multi- device deployment scenarios.

2. Coding, Testing, and Quality Assurance

a. Write, test, and debug high-quality backend and client-side code according to the project plan, ensuring complete functionality and operational efficiency.

b. Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability of delivered code and maintain defect rates within acceptable thresholds, consistent with the company's quality accreditation standards.

3. Code Review and Performance Optimization

a. Actively participate in team code review processes, evaluating code changes from colleagues to maintain the readability, security, and maintainability of the overall codebase.

b. Identify and optimize system performance bottlenecks, with a focus on continuous improvement in database query efficiency, API response times, and system resource utilization.

4. Development Processes and Tools Management

a. Adhere to and implement the company's designated software development processes and

toolchains, including Agile methodologies, version control systems, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, to ensure standardized and traceable development workflows.

5. Risk Identification and Mitigation

a. Proactively identify potential technical risks throughout the development lifecycle, including data loss, security vulnerabilities, or payment compliance issues. Report identified risks to management in a timely manner and participate in the formulation and execution of

corresponding mitigation strategies.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration

a. Collaborate with product managers, hardware integration engineers, quality assurance engineers, and after-sales support teams to ensure seamless integration of software solutions into the complete business system, which includes EFTPOS terminals and Epson or Star series kitchen printers.

7. Technical Documentation

a. Create and maintain comprehensive technical design documents and system workflow

specifications for assigned modules. Provide necessary technical documentation or user guides for internal support teams and external clients.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

2. 5+ years of professional experience in full-cycle software development.

3. Strong proficiency in backend development and experience building RESTful APIs.

4. Solid experience with relational databases and handling complex data models with high transaction volumes.

5. Experience with cloud platformsand designing applications for the cloud.

6. Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks or mobile development is a strong plus.

7. Demonstrated ability to write clean, testable, and well-documented code.

8. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Remuneration

2. Minimum working hours: 35 hours per week, full-time position
