Job description

Stand Forestry formed from the merge of PF Olsen and Forest360, has become New Zealand’s largest forestry management company and, in doing so, has positioned us to be bigger, better and stronger, with an exciting future ahead. We have a team of passionate forest professionals spanning the nation, dedicated to delivering innovative, best-in-class solutions for our valued clients.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Solution Architect to support a significant integration programme. Working across operational, commercial, finance and technology teams, you will translate business requirements into practical application, integration and data designs that support Stand’s future operating model. This is a 6-month fixed term role located in our Rotorua office.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can move comfortably between high-level architecture and detailed implementation conversations. You will work closely with workstream leads, the Senior Business Analyst, internal technology specialists and external vendors to ensure solutions are practical, integrated, secure and supportable and that decisions made in one area work for the business as a whole.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop and maintain practical current-state, transition-state and target architecture views as the integration programme evolves.
  • Define how core business applications, specialist forestry systems, data platforms, identity, reporting and supporting services work together.
  • Set clear application, integration and data boundaries, including systems of record, ownership, interfaces and sequencing.
  • Partner with the Master Data & Reporting workstream to establish authoritative data sources, common identifiers and reliable end-to-end data flows.
  • Identify overlapping functionality and support pragmatic decisions about what Stand should retain, invest in, integrate, migrate, contain, replace or retire.
  • Define maintainable integration patterns across operational, finance, CRM, GIS, reporting, SaaS, cloud and legacy platforms.
  • Ensure designs address resilience, error handling, security, monitoring, supportability, scalability and frontline usability.
  • Translate workstream requirements into practical design options, identifying dependencies, constraints and impacts across the wider business.
  • Review vendor and internal solution designs, interface specifications and technical documentation, constructively challenging unnecessary complexity or customisation.
  • Support technical due diligence, migration, sequencing, cutover, decommissioning and archiving decisions, with clear ownership and exit paths for temporary solutions.
  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams, solution designs, data flows and interface documentation where needed.

What we're looking for

  • Experience translating business requirements into practical solution architectures.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Forestry or other field-based industry experience is desirable.
  • Strong integration experience across APIs, middleware, event-driven patterns, file exchange, SaaS, cloud and legacy systems.
  • Broad knowledge of applications, cloud, identity, security, databases, reporting and infrastructure.
  • Sound knowledge of data architecture, master data, ownership, systems of record and data flows.
  • Experience objectively evaluating technology and vendor options against business and operational needs.
  • A track record of simplifying technology environments and reducing unnecessary complexity.
  • A practical, collaborative and enterprise-wide mindset, with constructive challenge and sound judgement.

What we offer

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a significant integration programme and shape the practical architecture that will bring Stand’s applications, integrations, data, identity, reporting and supporting services together.

You’ll work across the business, influence important technology decisions and help create a simpler, more resilient and supportable environment for the future.

Some travel within New Zealand may be required to support workstreams and operational teams.

If you’re an experienced Solution Architect who enjoys turning complex business and technology requirements into clear, practical and supportable designs, and you’re available for a six-month fixed-term role, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply on Seek with your CV and cover letter.
