The Engineer at UCT leads CNC machining operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality production of precision components. This role provides technical support, optimizes processes, and troubleshoots machining issues while guiding machinists and operators. Responsibilities include operating CNC milling, turning, 4‑axis/5‑axis machining, and mill‑turn equipment, interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, and driving tooling selection and process improvements. With strong leadership, problem‑solving skills, and hands‑on CNC expertise, the Engineer supports continuous improvement, team development, and UCT’s commitment to excellence in semiconductor manufacturing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of test fixtures, validation systems, and laboratory equipment for valves and flow control products.
Mandatory Requirements
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. Master’s degree is an advantage
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience.
- Minimum 2 years of team leadership or project leadership experience.
- Hands-on professional experience designing test equipment, fixtures, or automated systems in prior jobs.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, instrumentation, and pressure systems.
Preferred Experience
- Semiconductor, Medical Device, or High-Tech manufacturing industries.
- Design of leak, pressure, flow, and life-cycle test systems.
- Experience with valves, regulators, gas delivery, or fluid control products.
- Familiar with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with PDM systems, GD&T, and DFM.
