Account Manager III -Pharma Ad Agency
Job description
Account Manager III – Pharmaceutical Advertising Agency
Location: Mettawa, IL – Hybrid
Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday onsite | Monday & Friday remote
Contract: 12 months to start
Pay: $39–$44/hr based on experience and benefit selection
Orion Group is seeking an experienced Account Manager III to support our pharmaceutical client’s internal advertising agency. This is a highly visible, client-facing account leadership role supporting Gastroenterology marketing initiatives in a global pharmaceutical environment.
This position serves as a key liaison between the internal advertising agency and its pharmaceutical brand/client partners. We are looking for someone who understands the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare advertising space and can confidently lead client communications while partnering with Project Managers, copywriters, designers, digital teams, and other creative partners.
The ideal candidate will bring strong account leadership, polished presentation and communication skills, and experience supporting HCP and/or consumer/patient marketing materials within a regulated healthcare environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as a primary liaison between the advertising agency and pharmaceutical/healthcare client and brand teams.
- Lead day-to-day client communications, status discussions, presentations, and account activities.
- Partner closely with Project Managers to keep marketing initiatives moving through the creative and approval process.
- Collaborate with copywriters, designers, digital teams, creative partners, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support development and execution of HCP and consumer/patient-facing marketing materials, including materials distributed by global partners to local country affiliates.
- Coordinate creative and promotional work through Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) review and approval processes, including Veeva.
- Work within agency workflow/review platforms such as ReviewStudio or similar tools such as Workfront.
- Support global marketing initiatives and communicate effectively with stakeholders across teams and markets.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong communication, organization, follow-through, and client service.
- Partner across account, project management, creative, digital, and production functions to support successful delivery of marketing initiatives.
- 10+ years of account management/account leadership experience.
- Strong experience within the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare advertising/marketing space.
- Experience serving as a true client-facing account leader/liaison, rather than primarily working in project management.
- Experience supporting HCP, consumer/patient, commercial, or other regulated healthcare marketing materials.
- Familiarity with MLR review processes and Veeva strongly preferred.
- Advertising agency experience—external agency and/or internal/in-house agency experience—strongly preferred.
- Strong presentation, written and verbal communication, client relationship, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to effectively partner with Project Managers, copywriters, designers, digital teams, and other creative functions.
- Global marketing/account experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Candidates coming from a pharmaceutical or healthcare advertising agency account-management/client-services environment will be especially relevant. This role is best suited for someone who has owned the client relationship and account communication while partnering with PMs and creative teams, rather than someone whose background is primarily project management, MarTech/CRM development, or technical platform management.
