Job description

Ford Communications serves as an accelerant for the company's transformation, working to advance Ford's business success and future vision through innovative, world-class communications that unlock new value. We seek to establish Ford as the world's most trusted company through purpose-driven storytelling that drives advocacy; inspire a culture of optimism, competitiveness and creative excellence among our Ford team and partners; build the Ford brand and create desire for our products and services; and demonstrate our drive to create value for our stakeholders through Ford+.

Ford Credit is the financial services division of Ford Motor Company, providing financing to our Ford and Lincoln dealers as well as financing and leasing for new and used vehicles to our customers around the world.

In this position...

This management level role responsible for driving the strategic internal and external communications strategy for Ford Credit’s business and corporate functions, as well as major transformation projects globally. This role leads major internal and external communications efforts, including global town halls, global internal news, quarterly/annual earnings, media activations, crisis/issues management, etc., and serves as a key strategic partner and deputy to the Director of Communications.

The role is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, sound judgment on sensitive, high visibility matters and serve as a communications consultant to leaders and teams within the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Communications Strategist: Support the design and own the execution of an integrated communications strategy, including strategic communications, executive counsel, internal communications, content creation, speechwriting, event planning, video production and media relations.
  • Communications Consultant: Provide strategic communications leadership and executive counsel to senior leaders across Ford Credit North America, Transformation, Bank, Risk, Finance, Legal & Compliance, HR, Technology and Product — advising on messaging, positioning and reputational risk at the leadership level.
  • Internal Communications: Lead delivery and continuous improvement of headquarters-based internal communications, including quarterly global town halls, headquarters news, CEO internal communications and major employee events — ensuring messaging reflects business strategy and drives employee engagement.
  • External Communications: Strengthen Ford Credit’s external presence and reputation through strategic media activations and executive engagements. Serve as a senior communications counselor for teams participating in external engagements and other forms of stakeholder outreach, special projects and crisis/issues management, providing sound judgment and message development under pressure.
  • Process & Governance: Lead oversight of corporate governance processes for the communications team, including purchasing, budget forecasting and internal controls, ensuring efficient and compliant use of resources.
  • Cross-Collaboration: Drive alignment and integration across the greater Ford Communications team — including Corporate Communications, Ford Pro communications, Content Creation and Employee Communications — representing Ford Credit's interests and priorities.
  • Issues/Topics Management: Anticipate emerging business, industry and reputational topics and trends, proactively shaping communications strategy to position Ford Credit ahead of issues.

To Be Successful You Will

  • Bring strategic vision, curiosity and enthusiasm to the job, translating business priorities into compelling communications strategy
  • Demonstrate a high level of business and financial acumen, with fluency in the auto finance/banking industry
  • Deliver compelling, timely and highly polished communications to a global and diverse workforce
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, exercising sound judgment and discretion on sensitive matters
  • Value collaboration and team leadership; build, maintain and leverage networks across Ford Credit and Ford
  • Innovate through creativity, calculated risk-taking and a willingness to fail fast and iterate
  • Foster a culture of belonging, inclusion and high performance at Ford Credit and Ford
  • Lead through ambiguity and change, exercising composure and clarity during high-pressure or crisis situations

Leadership Competencies

  • Strategic Thinking: Anticipates business, industry and stakeholder trends; translates enterprise priorities into forward-looking communications strategy rather than reactive execution.
  • Presence & Influence: Communicates with clarity, credibility and confidence to senior leaders and executives; builds trust and influences decisions without formal authority.
  • Judgment Under Pressure: Exercises sound, independent judgment on sensitive, ambiguous or crisis situations; balances speed with accuracy and risk awareness.
  • Collaboration & Enterprise Mindset: Builds and leverages cross-functional relationships across Ford Credit and Ford Communications; prioritizes enterprise outcomes over siloed wins.
  • Accountability & Ownership: Takes ownership of outcomes, budgets and governance processes; holds self and others to a high standard of execution and compliance.
  • Adaptability & Resilience: Navigates ambiguity, organizational change and competing priorities with composure; models resilience for the broader team.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree a plus)
  • 7+ years of experience in Communications

Even better, you may have...

  • Progressive experience in communications, journalism or public relations, with demonstrated success in executive communications, crisis/issues management, content creation, internal communications and corporate communications; experience in financial services, banking or automotive industries strongly preferred
