Human Resources Generalist / Employee Relations Specialist

Location: 911 N Studebaker Rd, Long Beach, CA 90815

Pay Range: $38.00 - $46.00 per hour

Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys supporting employees, resolving workplace challenges, and helping ensure a positive and compliant employee experience? RHF is seeking a Human Resources Generalist / Employee Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources team at our Corporate Office in Long Beach, CA.

This role provides broad HR support with a focus on employee relations, benefits and leave administration, compliance, and HR operations. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, approachable, organized, and comfortable handling sensitive employee matters while partnering with managers and employees across the organization.

What You'll Do

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Conduct workplace investigations and assist with resolving employee concerns.
  • Partner with managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and corrective action.
  • Assist with HR policies, employee communications, and compliance training.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Administer medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, disability, FSA, and voluntary benefit programs.
  • Support annual Open Enrollment activities and employee benefit communications.
  • Administer and coordinate employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, Pregnancy Disability Leave, military leave, and personal leave.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, benefit vendors, and third-party administrators.

HR Operations

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Manage unemployment claims and employment verifications.
  • Prepare HR reports, audits, and documentation.
  • Support HR projects and organizational initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and employment law compliance.
  • Experience administering FMLA, disability leaves, and workplace accommodations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience with UKG.
  • Experience supporting a multi-site workforce.
  • Experience in nonprofit, senior living, healthcare, affordable housing, or property management environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
  • Ability to occasionally move throughout the corporate office and attend meetings as needed.
