Machine Design Engineer
Job description
You will support machine-design activities for gas centrifuge isotope separation systems. You will design rotating equipment, fixtures, tooling, vacuum interfaces, drawings, and bills of materials; perform tolerance analyses; support design reviews; and incorporate manufacturing feedback into drawing revisions.
Responsibilities
- Support gas centrifuge isotope separation design activities
- Design components and subassemblies for high-speed rotating equipment
- Progress new designs through testing toward volume production
- Design containment boundary joints for high and ultra-high vacuum systems
- Design fixtures and tooling for fabrication, inspection, testing, and assembly
- Deliver drawings and bills of materials using configuration management practices
- Use SolidWorks 3D CAD and SolidWorks PDM
- Perform tolerance stack-up and error-budget analyses
- Support design reviews and resolve review comments
- Specify materials conforming to national standards
- Incorporate non-conformances and manufacturing feedback into drawing revisions
Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience
- Machine design experience
- SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
- Active DOE Q Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance
- Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in ongoing random drug testing
