The Manager of Oncology Research and Clinical Trials is a nursing and operational leader responsible for advancing high-quality patient care, clinical research excellence, and team performance across the oncology research program. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, this leader partners closely with physicians, principal and sub-investigators, clinical research coordinators, nurses, and regulatory professionals to ensure the successful execution of clinical trials while delivering an exceptional patient experience.

In this role, you will oversee clinical and research operations, support staff development, drive compliance with regulatory requirements, and implement innovative processes that improve quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes. The ideal candidate is an experienced oncology nurse leader who is passionate about research, operational excellence, and leading multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Primary

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the coordination, quality, and delivery of patient care within the oncology research setting
  • Support the development and execution of departmental goals, strategic initiatives, and research program objectives
  • Partner with physicians, investigators, and clinical teams to ensure successful implementation and management of clinical trials
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, standards of practice, and federal and state regulations
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, mentor, and develop clinical and research staff
  • Provide leadership, coaching, education, and performance oversight for licensed and non-licensed personnel
  • Ensure development and implementation of patient-centered care plans that promote quality outcomes and patient satisfaction
  • Support clinical trial activities across multiple phases, including protocol implementation, study execution, and research operations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and operational excellence through Lean methodologies and audits
  • Assess staffing needs, conduct quality reviews, and address employee relations concerns in a timely and effective manner
  • Develop and implement staff education, orientation, and competency programs
  • Foster employee engagement through clear communication, collaboration, and team development
  • Collaborate with investigators, research partners, and statistical consultants to support study success
  • Serve as a backup resource for clinical research coordination activities, including participant screening and recruitment for clinical studies when needed
  • Participate in initiatives that advance oncology research, innovation, and program growth

Required

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of clinical research experience, including oncology clinical trials
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience overseeing research personnel or research operations
  • Experience managing clinical trials across multiple phases, including Phase II, III, and interventional studies
  • Experience working with investigators, sponsors, CROs, and regulatory agencies
  • Solid knowledge of FDA regulations, ICH-GCP guidelines, human subject protections, and research compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated success leading clinical research programs and operational initiatives

Preferred

Qualifications

  • SOCRA Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) certification
  • ACRP certification (CCRC, CCRP, or CPM)
  • 3+ years of oncology-specific clinical research experience
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary clinical research teams
  • Experience supporting research program growth, site development, and strategic initiatives
  • Lean, process improvement, or healthcare operations experience
  • Experience participating in successful regulatory inspections or sponsor audits

The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
