Job description

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Shop Operations Team Manager to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Lead daily production operations by coordinating team activities, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and ensuring production targets are consistently achieved.

Drive a strong safety culture by identifying improvement opportunities and partnering cross-functionally to implement safer work practices.

Improve operational efficiency by recommending and supporting initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize processes.

Champion quality excellence by monitoring performance, addressing issues proactively, and ensuring products meet established standards.

Provide clear direction and accountability for team members by setting expectations, assigning responsibilities, and tracking progress toward goals.

Coach, mentor, and develop employees to build technical skills, strengthen performance, and support career growth.

Serve as a lead on projects and key work assignments, coordinating efforts across teams to deliver successful outcomes.

Foster a collaborative and engaged team environment by providing regular feedback, recognizing achievements, and promoting continuous improvement.

Education/Experience:

  • College, university or equivalent degree required, or equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Additional Details:

  • Walks the floor throughout the day to support employees and monitor production.
  • Responds to production issues, equipment problems, and employee concerns.
  • Investigates downtime events to understand what happened, identify root causes, and prevent repeat issues.
  • Escalates major production, quality, safety, or equipment issues to the appropriate support teams and leaders.
  • Works with maintenance, engineering, quality, and materials teams to quickly resolve problems and restore production.
  • Ensures parts, tools, and equipment are available when needed.
  • Verifies products are built correctly and meet quality requirements.
  • Adjusts staffing and priorities to keep production running efficiently.
  • Coaches and develops employees while addressing performance and attendance concerns.
  • Tracks production results and acts when goals are at risk.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts to make work safer, easier, and more productive.
  • Communicates shift performance, issues, and action plans to the next shift and leadership team
  • C shift Pattern Monday- Tuesday night 5pm-5am Friday and Saturday 5am-5pm
