Mobile Unit Driver
Job description
This position is Part-Time.
Serves as the primary driver of the Mobile Medical Vehicle and assists with the delivery of patient care services and management, and navigation of participants on and off the mobile unit. Assists with preparations and ongoing maintenance of the Mobile Medical Vehicle such as ensuring overall cleanliness before, during, and after visits; performing equipment checks; maintaining inventory supplies; and performing other duties required to support the Mobile Medical Vehicle’s readiness to operate and to accept participant encounters.
Essential Functions:
- Requires the ability, competence and confidence to drive the Mobile Medical Vehicle as part of routine job duties.
- Effectively advocates for quality participant safety and satisfaction as a daily practice
- Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound vehicle
- Obey all traffic laws
- Assists patients enter and exit vehicle; operates lift gate to facilitate transport of wheelchair patients
- Maintains daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers, destination and fuel consumption
- Inspects condition of mobile unit for cleanliness and safe operations
- Performs routine visual inspection of vehicle to ensure proper and safe operations including, but not limited to: checks tires, tests brakes, checks windshield and lights for cracks/breakage and tests headlights, brake lights and signals for proper operation
- Identifies fire and/or life safety risk situations; initiates appropriate action to correct situation
- Completes applicable reports of instances up to and including injury, damage or theft with appropriate documentation (photos, witness statements, etc.) and coordinates intervention by appropriate law enforcement personnel, fire and/or emergency medical response as appropriate.
- Completes inspections, as requested
- Examines doors, windows and gates to determine status, verifies vacancy of rooms and/or contents; questions unauthorized and/or suspicious personnel and requests identification
- Provides information and general assistance to staff, visitors and patients as requested
- Maintains log of all shift activities
- Actively participates in a variety of professional and civic activities to increase contacts among various Tribal Departments
- Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
- Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- 6 months related experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required
- Current and valid driver’s license, required
- Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), required
