Job description

The Role

This role sits at the core of our operations.

You’ll be responsible for managing the full permitting process across our renewable energy projects in Texas—from initial submission to final approval and Permission to Operate (PTO).

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external authorities to ensure every project is compliant, on time, and properly documented.

This is a detail-driven role with high operational impact—ideal for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable navigating regulatory environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the Permitting Process

You’ll manage the end-to-end permitting lifecycle, ensuring every application is submitted accurately and moves efficiently through approval stages.

You’ll track multiple permits across different jurisdictions, proactively identifying and resolving delays or missing information.

Coordinating Across Teams

You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, Scheduling, and Inspection teams to ensure projects are fully ready for submission and aligned with current requirements.

Managing Compliance & Documentation

You’ll ensure all permits meet Texas regulatory, technical, and safety standards.

This includes reviewing documentation such as drawings, engineering stamps, and scopes of work, as well as maintaining accurate records across internal systems.

Working with External Authorities

You’ll act as the main point of contact with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), utilities, and third-party partners—facilitating submissions, answering questions, and pushing approvals forward.

Optimizing Processes

You’ll help define and improve permitting workflows by creating SOPs, reducing errors, and identifying ways to speed up approvals.

You’ll also support system improvements and automation efforts to make processes more scalable.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

You’ll act as a resource for internal teams—sharing updates on regulatory changes, providing training, and helping prevent recurring permitting issues.

What We’re Looking For

You’re someone who thrives in structured environments—or enjoys creating structure where it doesn’t exist yet.

You’re detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple moving pieces without losing track.

You likely:

  • Have prior experience with permitting processes in Texas
  • Understand local, state, and utility regulatory requirements
  • Are highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Can manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Communicate clearly with both internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Are comfortable reviewing technical documentation (drawings, plans, etc.)
  • Enjoy improving processes and making systems more efficient

How You’ll Work at Terra Energy

We’re a fast-growing company, and while we move quickly, we rely on strong operational foundations.

You’ll have ownership over your area, direct collaboration with multiple teams, and the opportunity to improve how permitting is handled as we scale.

We value people who are proactive, solution-oriented, and focused on getting things done the right way.

Compensation & Details

  • Salary: $50,000 USD annually
  • Location: Remote (United States)
  • Reports to: Operations Manager

Terra Energy is a residential solar company that has transformed how homeowners access clean energy through its innovative subscription model. What started as an Ivy League startup has grown into one of the fastest-growing solar providers in the United States, with a proven track record of serving over 8,000 customers across Mexico and the U.S. with approximately 200 new installations every month. The company's breakthrough approach eliminates the traditional barriers to solar adoption by replacing 20-25 year loans and long-term contracts with a flexible 36-month subscription service. Homeowners can save up to 50% on their electric bills from day one with zero upfront costs, free maintenance, continuous upgrades, and system insurance all included. After the initial three-year term, customers can cancel anytime if not satisfied. Terra Energy's systems currently generate 1,000 megawatts of clean, renewable energy, contributing to a decentralized network of sustainable microgrids. The company operates showrooms in Miami, Florida and serves customers in Florida and Texas, positioning itself as a leader in making residential solar accessible to everyday homeowners rather than just those who can afford large upfront investments.
