The Public Relations Specialist will develop and execute strategic communications initiatives that strengthen brand reputation and increase visibility across telecommunications, broadband, and technology markets. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, you will drive earned media campaigns, build relationships with influential journalists, and shape compelling narratives around complex technical solutions. You will collaborate with marketing teams, executives, and technical experts to align public relations activities with broader business objectives. From product launches and industry events to media inquiries and reputation management, your work will support integrated awareness initiatives across key B2B audiences. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a communications professional who combines strong storytelling skills with telecommunications industry knowledge. You will help translate technical innovation into meaningful stories that resonate with industry stakeholders and the media.
Accountabilities:
- Media Relations and Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with journalists covering telecommunications, broadband, technology, and business. Develop targeted media pitches to secure high-impact earned coverage in leading trade publications and major media outlets.
- Public Relations Strategy: Collaborate with marketing leadership to align external communications, product launches, and executive positioning with business growth priorities and overall marketing strategy.
- Press Materials and Technical Storytelling: Write and edit press releases, media kits, white paper summaries, executive Q&As, and briefing documents, translating complex telecommunications and infrastructure concepts into clear, compelling stories.
- Media Inquiries and Spokesperson Preparation: Act as the primary contact for incoming media requests, evaluate media opportunities, and prepare executives and technical subject matter experts for interviews, panels, and other public appearances.
- Trade Shows and Industry Events: Support public relations activities surrounding major industry conferences, product announcements, trade shows, and executive speaking engagements.
- Media Monitoring and Performance Reporting: Monitor media coverage, industry developments, and brand sentiment across telecommunications and technology outlets. Track coverage metrics, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and report performance and ROI to marketing leadership.
- Crisis Communications and Reputation Management: Support the monitoring of emerging issues, technical outages, and market developments, helping coordinate timely and consistent communications to protect brand reputation.
- Integrated Marketing Collaboration: Work with product marketing, technical experts, and other marketing stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and connect public relations efforts with broader initiatives, including SEO, digital PR, and account-based marketing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of dedicated public relations experience in an agency or in-house environment, including at least 2 years focused on telecommunications, broadband, networking, or technology infrastructure.
- Proven ability to pitch stories and secure earned media coverage in relevant telecommunications and technology trade publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing and AP Style proficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical subjects into accessible, persuasive narratives for media and business audiences.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside product marketing teams, technical subject matter experts, and executive leadership.
- Familiarity with public relations databases and media intelligence platforms such as Cision, Muck Rack, or Meltwater.
- Understanding of integrated marketing strategies, including SEO, digital public relations, and account-based marketing.
- Experience supporting crisis communications or issues management in telecommunications or technology environments is an asset.
- Ability to work remotely within the United States, with a preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zones.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

- Annual base salary: $117,000–$127,000, depending on market, location, qualifications, and relevant experience.
