Trelleborg Medical Solutions is currently accepting applications for a Strategic Sourcing Manager for our Plymouth, Minnesota location. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be a key part of our global TMS support team and will provide leadership to a team of Buyers supporting manufacturing sites across TMS on purchasing-related matters. In addition to managing and developing the Buyer team, this role will serve as a strategic counterpart for key suppliers and oversee related key raw material categories.

The focus of the Strategic Sourcing Manager is to improve, develop, and implement processes and tools within Purchasing on a global level. Working closely with colleagues from the global support team, site Purchasing professionals, and the Buyer team, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will ensure that purchasing strategies, processes, and best practices are consistently executed across the organization. The role is responsible for identifying and capturing synergy opportunities, supporting the development and performance of the Buyer team, and driving Purchasing Excellence (PE) on both a strategic and operational level.

Tasks and

Responsibilities

  • Spend mapping and analysis – Collection and maintenance of global spend data for nominated commodities
  • Develop, maintain and execute a global strategy for nominated commodities
  • Development and negotiation of contracts with key suppliers to nominated commodities
  • Sourcing projects – support local sites in the identification of opportunities and applying a systematic approach
  • Supplier Market development – Attend seminars, network with peers, work with other group purchasing teams to identify new suppliers.
  • Identify areas of risk, i.e. monopoly, proprietary materials, customer approvals etc. that limit our choice of supplier.
  • Ownership of Business-to-Business meetings with several key suppliers.
  • Support TMS Manufacturing sites on PE related supply- and sourcing activities, to ensure stable supply
  • Project Management driven approach with clear KPI mindset and time plan focus
  • Work with Group Purchasing to drive next steps in Trelleborg digital sourcing journey
  • Identify opportunities for, and implement Sourcing initiatives, on Direct- and Indirect Material & Services

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement or related field.
  • 3 years of increasing leadership experience managing purchasing or supply chain professionals.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Completed or working towards professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPM or equivalent are preferred.
  • Proven track record of supplier negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Experience managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated industry experience preferred but not required.
