Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable Warehouse Cardboard Compactor Operator to manage cardboard waste and operate warehouse compaction equipment safely and efficiently. This role helps maintain clean, organised work areas and supports the responsible handling and recycling of packaging materials.
The successful candidate will follow site safety procedures, complete equipment checks and keep accurate records. Previous warehouse or compactor experience is beneficial, but a commitment to safe working practices and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate cardboard balers and compactors in line with training, manufacturer guidance and site safety procedures.
- Collect, sort and feed cardboard into the compactor, removing unsuitable materials where required.
- Secure completed bales and move them to designated storage or collection areas using approved equipment.
- Carry out routine pre-use checks and report equipment faults, damage or maintenance needs promptly.
- Keep the compactor area, warehouse walkways and waste storage locations clean, tidy and free from obstructions.
- Follow site requirements for personal protective equipment, manual handling and safe equipment operation.
- Separate cardboard from other waste streams and support recycling and waste-reduction procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment checks, bale movements and waste collections as required.
- Work cooperatively with warehouse and facilities colleagues to maintain a safe, efficient working environment.
- Follow applicable site hygiene, security and quality procedures, including any relevant pharmaceutical workplace requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and workplace safety procedures.
- Good attention to detail and a responsible approach to equipment operation.
- Ability to carry out physical tasks, including lifting and moving materials, in accordance with manual-handling guidance.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic written and numerical skills for completing checks and workplace records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, recycling, waste-handling or manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience operating a cardboard baler or compactor.
- Relevant manual-handling or workplace equipment training.
- Experience working in a regulated or quality-controlled environment.
