This Workday HCM Architect will act as an extension of the internal HRIS team and will be responsible for Workday expertise, architectural guidance, production support, optimization, and long-term roadmap planning. The ideal candidate will have an ownership mentality and be comfortable operating independently, partnering with leadership, and serving as the go-to Workday HCM expert.
The role will support both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives across HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Compensation, Reporting, integrations, and business process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary functional owner and architect for Workday HCM.
Lead Workday HCM administration, production support, optimization, and roadmap planning.
Provide hands-on support across HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, and related Workday functionality.
Troubleshoot complex system issues, business processes, integrations, and end-user concerns.
Lead configuration, testing, deployment, and enhancement activities.
Drive Workday optimization and recommend scalable best practices.
Partner with HR, Recruiting, Benefits, Compensation, IT, and business leadership to translate requirements into effective Workday solutions.
Support and lead Workday projects from requirements through implementation.
Improve Recruiting workflows and business processes to create a more efficient user experience.
Support implementation of new Compensation and Benefits solutions, including related integrations.
Increase manager and employee self-service capabilities within Workday.
Improve Workday reporting, analytics, data accessibility, and overall user experience.
Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and integration with external systems.
Support Workday releases, security requests, reporting, audits, testing, and ongoing production support.
Develop documentation, testing materials, process flows, and knowledge-transfer resources.
Establish Workday governance, standards, and best practices across the organization.
Requirements
5+ years of Workday HCM experience with strong hands-on functional expertise.
Proven experience as a Workday HCM Lead, Architect, Senior Consultant, or senior functional owner.
Deep expertise across Workday HCM, with strong experience in Benefits and Recruiting.
Experience providing day-to-day Workday ticket and production support.
Experience supporting Workday in a post-go-live environment.
Strong understanding of Workday business processes, configuration, security, integrations, and optimization.
Proven experience leading Workday enhancements and process improvement initiatives.
Ability to independently own and manage the Workday HCM environment.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
Comfortable operating in an environment with limited internal Workday expertise.
Preferred
Workday Compensation experience
Benefits administration and carrier integration experience
Experience supporting multi-country Workday environments
Experience with Workday Reporting, Analytics, or Talent
Previous Workday consulting experience
Experience optimizing Workday environments following go-live
Workday certifications are a plus
