Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000, depending on experience

Position Overview:
We are hiring to fill an additional accounting position focused on supporting financial operations within our excavation business. This role will work closely with the Accounting Manager and the right person will be able to collaborate with field and office teams to prioritize accurate and timely financial data.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in accounting or finance with 3+ years of experience, preferably in construction or a related field. This role offers an opportunity to shape its scope and processes while making a direct impact on operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable:
Responsible for finance approvals on accounts payable transactions. This includes verifying the accuracy of all entered information, including GL account and cost code.
- Payroll:
Weekly payroll processing. This person will be responsible for importing timesheet hours into our payroll system and verifying completeness. This includes managing 401k contributions, garnishments, and certified payroll.
- Equipment & Operational Analysis:
Assist in tracking equipment ownership, utilization, and maintenance costs; help assess rental vs. ownership decisions. - Cross-Department Collaboration:
Work with field supervisors, estimators, and the accounting team to improve data accuracy and streamline communication between departments. - Process Development & Support:
Contribute to improving accounting workflows and shaping this evolving role in alignment with company growth and operational goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but not required
- 3+ years of accounting or finance experience, ideally in construction or excavation
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; experience with construction accounting software is a plus
- Payroll experience preferred
- Knowledge of job costing and equipment tracking
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is a mandatory requirement for this role, as it is essential for understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and participating in team communications.
