We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Antique Dealer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on discovering rare finds and connecting them with the right buyers. You’ll play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, and reselling a wide range of antique and vintage items—from furniture and décor to fine art and collectibles.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Acquisition
- Research and identify rare, valuable, and historically significant antiques
- Develop and maintain relationships with sellers, estate agents, collectors, and auctions
- Attend estate sales, auctions, and antique fairs to scout unique items
- Evaluation & Appraisal
- Assess condition, authenticity, provenance, and market value of potential acquisitions
- Maintain detailed records and documentation for all inventory items
- Negotiation & Purchasing
- Negotiate with sellers and vendors to secure items at the best possible price
- Ensure fair and ethical practices throughout all transactions
- Inventory Management
- Curate and maintain a diverse, high-quality inventory
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and preservation of delicate or valuable items
- Sales & Marketing
- Promote items through online platforms, social media, auctions, and in-person sales
- Work closely with collectors and clients to match them with desired pieces
- Provide expert guidance and historical context to support purchasing decisions
- Market & Industry Awareness
- Stay informed on market trends, antique valuation techniques, and legal regulations
- Continuously expand product knowledge and historical expertise
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as an antique dealer, appraiser, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of art history, antiques, and collectible markets
- Excellent research, appraisal, and negotiation skills
- Familiarity with online and in-person selling platforms
- Keen eye for detail and authenticity
- Professionalism, integrity, and passion for historical items
