Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Athletic Trainer to support Castro Valley High School Athletic Teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics, sports medicine, injury prevention, along with a passion for helping student-athletes maintain physical fitness. Here are a few key job responsibilities and qualifications expected for this role:
Job Responsibilities
- Injury Prevention and Education: Develop and implement injury prevention programs and exercises. Educate student-athletes on injury prevention techniques, such as stretching and strength training.
- Injury Assessment and Management: Provide immediate care to injured athletes, including first aid and emergency care. Assess and diagnose injuries, and create treatment plans tailored to the athlete's needs.
- Rehabilitation and Therapy: Guide injured athletes through rehabilitation programs to aid recovery. Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on athlete progress and needs.
- Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with coaches, parents, and school staff to update them on athlete health status and progress. Coordinate with physicians, physical therapists, and other health professionals for advanced care as needed.
- Administrative Tasks: Document injuries, treatments, and follow-up care for each athlete. Maintain records in compliance with school, state, and federal regulations. Ensure that training rooms and equipment are stocked and in proper working order.
Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in athletic training, sports medicine, or a related field. Master’s degree preferable.
- Certification and Licensing: Certification from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer. State licensure, where required, to practice as an athletic trainer. CPR and first aid certification.
- Experience: Prior experience working with athletes, preferably at the high school or college level.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with athletes, coaches, and families. Ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations. Organizational skills for record-keeping and treatment planning.
