Summary

The selected candidate should have basic information technology knowledge such as infrastructure, network topology or help desk support. This intern position provides direct data center operations experience. 

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 29.5 hours per week maximum.

What You'll Do

The selected candidate will:

• Monitor IT systems to detect error messages that signal malfunctions in communications of software and/or hardware and respond appropriately per documented procedures.

• Provide phone assistance to internal SRP clients with varying degrees of technical knowledge.

• Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating patience while effectively dealing with client problems.

• Perform problem-solving over the phone and determine appropriate course of problem escalation as required.

• Performs detailed inventory tracking procedures of data center IT assets.

What It Takes To Succeed

•            Preferred requirements include familiarity with many of the following:

o            Critical thinking and problem solving.

o            Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Outlook, Exchange

o            Windows Operating System

o            Internet Explorer, to include understanding configuration and properties

o            Networking, to include general knowledge of user accounts and login, FTP, dial-up/VPN, and Intranet vs. Internet

o            Desktop hardware, including the ability to problem-solve hardware component issues

o            Laptop hardware, including wireless

o            Batch processing

 

Additional Information

Data Center Operations operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, weekends included.

Experience

Candidates must be currently enrolled and continue to be enrolled in a minimum of six 100 level or above college credit hours per semester for the duration of the position.

 

Preference to sophomore-junior level applicants.

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
