About the role:
We are seeking our first dedicated accounting hire at Form Health, responsible for establishing the accounting foundation, team, processes and systems that will support our next stage of growth. You’ll build the accounting function from the ground up, own the close and reporting processes, oversee internal and external audits, and help scale systems and controls. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both technical accounting expertise and the ability to operate in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment. You will also help to build and manage the team as the company continues to scale. The preference is for this person to be located in the Boston, MA area and willing/able to work a hybrid scheduled in the office 2-3 days/week, but we are willing to consider strong remote candidates as well.
What you will do:
Phase 1: build the foundation
- Build and lead the accounting function, including hiring and managing a team over time.
- Establish accounting policies, procedures, and controls to support scalability, compliance, and audit readiness.
- Own Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure timely vendor payment and receipt.
- Own and optimize the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Lead preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Manage technical accounting topics (eg, revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, inter-company transfers, and acquisition accounting).
Phase 2: execute and partner
- Lead systems implementation and optimization (e.g., ERP upgrades, automation tools).
- Ensure regulatory compliance in healthcare-related accounting and reporting.
- Partner with FP&A and leadership to deliver actionable insights from financial results.
- Oversee coordination with external accounting firms, auditors, and tax advisors.
Phase 3: scale and optimize
- Expand accounting team and capabilities (eg, treasury, tax, etc.) as Form Health grows
- Support Board and investor reporting, including audit committee materials.
- Support fundraising, M&A, and strategic initiatives with accounting insights and due diligence readiness.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including:
- At least 3 years in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred)
- Experience in a high-growth startup or private equity-backed environment
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting areas
- Proven track record building or scaling an accounting function
- Experience with healthcare services, multi-entity consolidation, and revenue cycle management is a strong plus
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and ability to implement and optimize ERP tools
- Prior experience leading a migration from Quickbooks to NetSuite is a strong plus
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners
- Experience leading a first time audit is a strong plus
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on mindset — willing to roll up sleeves while also thinking strategically
- Preference for candidates located in the Boston, MA area
