Director of Financial Accounting
As part of the Corporate Accounting team within the Finance and Accounting organization, this position is responsible for the financial accounting functions for shared services (enablement functions), centralized business unit accounting and accruals as well as support for other corporate accounting and company projects. Additionally, this role is expected to lead additional financial accounting areas as additional centralization activities occur. The Director will apply extensive financial accounting knowledge to support short and long-term business objectives and enable strategic decision-making. This position will collaborate with multiple teams. As a people leader, this position will be responsible for leading and developing high performance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Accounting Shared Services (Enablement Functions): Lead the financial accounting activities for the shared services (enablement functions) encompassing approximately $1 billion of annual spend across IT, HR, Finance, Law, Business Services and other corporate shared service functions in addition to the governance and reporting of Corporate G&A.
- Centralized Business Unit Financial Accounting: Lead the business unit centralized financial accounting and related business process offshore financial accounting team including weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial accounting results for Prepared Foods BU and Europe (general ledger) as well as other business units and activities transitioning into the centralized financial accounting model. Responsibility also includes the ownership of centralized accruals for the business units and enterprise including monthly dashboards and answering support questions from locations as needed. Additional accruals and processes, such intangibles and certain financial statement footnotes, are expected to transfer into the role over time.
- Other Financial Accounting Functions and Lease Accounting COE: As the Finance and Accounting function continues to transform processes and centralize accounting functions, additional areas are expected to transfer into the role. Additionally, it is expected the role will lead the creation of a lease accounting COE as well as leading or participating in Corporate Accounting projects including, but not limited to, new transactions, accounting standard adoptions, merger, acquisitions, disposals, software, enterprise initiative support, process changes and restructurings.
- Compliance: Ensure group’s compliance with GAAP, internal controls, SOX adherence, regulatory requirements and company policies for all financial processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and reporting.
- Operational Oversight: Manages financial accounting, reporting and analysis processes, including the preparation of financial information, variance analysis and key performance indicators.
- Process Improvement: Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in all financial processes supported.
- Strategic Leadership: Provide financial leadership and support to cross functional teams for strategic decision-making, including business case analysis and financial modeling.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in financial accounting, with previous supervisory experience.
- Computer Skills: Strong computer skills are essential; advanced SAP, Excel, PowerBI, and PowerPoint skills are a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with senior business management and finance accounting staff.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for direct and/or indirect reports.
- Special Skills: Experience in leading cross-functional projects, leading teams, strategic planning, strategic thought leadership, and relationship building.
