Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing to lead the clinical team in our state-of-the-art memory care community. This role is dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of care for residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing leadership, with proven expertise in assisted living or memory care settings, and a deep understanding of dementia care best practices, state regulations, and HIPAA compliance. This position requires a leader who can combine clinical excellence with empathy, supporting both residents and staff in a nurturing and respectful environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all clinical and nursing operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for assisted living and memory care.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures aligned with industry best practices for dementia care.
- Lead, mentor, and manage nursing and caregiving staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and update individualized care plans that address each resident’s physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
- Monitor resident health status, care quality, and service delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation of assessments, care plans, and resident records in compliance with all regulatory and facility requirements.
- Serve as a primary advocate for resident rights, dignity, and person-centered care.
- Educate staff and families on dementia care strategies, behavioral interventions, and disease progression.
- Stay current on evolving memory care standards, state guidelines, and innovative care approaches.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
- Proven leadership experience in an assisted living, skilled nursing, or memory care environment.
- In-depth understanding of dementia care principles, state ALF regulations, HIPAA, and resident rights.
- Strong management and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, guide, and retain a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to evaluate resident needs, assess clinical data, and make informed, timely decisions.
