SHIFT : Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM, additional days, and some weekends as needed
POSITION SUMMARY: As an Event Operations Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of events through setting up a variety of campus spaces ensuring a welcoming environment and positive event experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Physically move and assemble furniture set ups and resets for scheduled events across campus.
- Setup and tear down items including tables, chairs, stages, risers, pipe and drape, floor covering, etc.
- Maintain event equipment and materials in good condition, reporting any damage or shortages promptly.
- Ensure all event spaces are left clean and tidy after teardown, and that all university materials are stored appropriately for future use.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the conference and event management team, along with customers effectively.
- Maintain inventory related to events and overnight camps which include but are not limited to tables, chairs, linens, etc.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, effectively managing time and priorities to meet event schedules.
- Provide periodic verbal reports and feedback on event setups, including suggestions for improvement and efficiency.
- Provide building support to the Haupert Union Building (our main event location) through supporting day to day operations and occasional custodial support.
- Comply with all safety procedures and work guidelines encountered in the maintenance and operation of institutional buildings and natural environment. Communicate issues to the supervisor; actively participate in training activities, seminars, and safety meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED, valid Pennsylvania driver's license, up to one year of related experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the requirements of this position.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring above average physical strength.
- Possess the ability to work independently, under the direction of others, follow oral and written instructions, and work with other staff members as part of a team to create and maintain a positive, productive, safe and efficient work environment.
