We’re hiring on behalf of a reputable construction and infrastructure firm with over six decades of service across excavation, paving, heavy equipment logistics, and site development. The team is seeking an experienced Fleet Dispatcher to coordinate transportation and equipment movement across multiple job sites and manage day-to-day dispatch operations.
This position plays a key role in overseeing union and third-party trucking operations, ensuring compliance with safety and DOT regulations, and maintaining efficient schedules for lowboys, flatbeds, and dump trucks. You’ll collaborate closely with shop teams, superintendents, and drivers to keep projects moving on time and within regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Schedule and dispatch lowboys and flatbeds, acquiring permits for oversized/overweight loads as needed.
Coordinate Teamsters and equipment movements according to project timelines and customer requirements.
Maintain compliance with DOT, Federal Motor Carrier regulations, and fleet safety standards.
Manage dispatch communications between crews, shop, and field leadership.
Track equipment locations and utilization for accurate service scheduling.
Collaborate with the maintenance team on repair needs to minimize downtime.
Review and enter teamster hours into payroll systems (Viewpoint).
Prepare daily dispatch logs and schedules.
Support project continuity by resolving scheduling conflicts and logistical challenges quickly.
Perform other related tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications:
3–5 years of experience dispatching for a heavy highway, construction, or equipment-based company.
Strong understanding of IDOT, Oxcart, county, and local permitting systems for oversize/overweight loads.
Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations, including GVW, height, and weight limitations.
Familiarity with construction equipment, heavy trucks, and lowboy transport.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Effective multitasking and time management skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using Viewpoint and HCSS software.
Understanding of Teamsters seniority rules.
Knowledge of hazmat transport and placarding requirements.
Technical familiarity with hydraulics, diesel/gas machinery, and onboard systems.
