The Part- Time Medical Staff Coordinator oversees all TVHC functions related to Medical Staff Services. This position acts as manager of all medical staff services employees and related processes.
Job Description:
- Supervises and assures provider enrollment for the organization and all billable providers
- Troubleshoot claim related issues regarding provider enrollment
- Maintain provider enrollment worklists and attend bi-weekly provider enrollment calls
- Assures credentialing/privileging processes are completed in a thorough and correct manner, obtaining recommendations by Medical Staff and approvals of BOT for individual membership and privileges
- Assures appointment, advancement, and reappointment of privileges are done according to regulation, Bylaws, and Rules
- Maintains the credentialing database, MD-Staff, and update information as needed
- Plan, coordinate, and record minutes for each medical staff meeting
- Track provider expenses and maintain the provider budget
- Coordinate and document completion of Peer Review, Mid-Level Review, and External Peer Review charts
- Consults on policy and procedure regarding medical staff bylaws, rules and policies as needed
- Coordinate student clinical rotations
- Oversees and supervises the Medical Staff services department and its employees
- Assists with any other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and all health care professionals and TVHC staff
- Intermediate knowledge in computer use; including word processing, data entry, data mining, and spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Maintains and follows guidelines set for standards of practice in quality patient care, and infection control practices as required by state, federal, and the facility.
- 3-5 years hospital based, healthcare industry experience
- Significant knowledge concerning medical care, nursing skills, hospital policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, ethics and good grasp of medical terminology
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPR/BLS Healthcare Certification
- Additional languages – Spanish preferred
- Competency with MD-Staff
