Job Summary
A Utility Technician is primarily responsible for performing compliance related tasks associated with natural gas distribution. Although not an exhaustive list, the following duties will/may be performed by a Utility Technician.
Assist in maintaining A.C.C. Code Compliance which includes data input, tracking and monitoring of Code Compliance requirements for completion. Responsible for field activities associated with Code Compliance including gauge and pressure recorder calibrations and record keeping, patrolling, atmospheric patrols records, and odorant tests.
Investigate GIS mapping discrepancies, perform leak surveys, and upload documents to GIS folders for map updates and always provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers. Maintains leak investigation logs, keeps meter reading system patrolling reports and orders, maintains emergency list logs of hit gas lines, maintains system surveillance reports and orders, complete atmospheric corrosion surveys and reports.
Meets with contractors to set up new premises, keeps logs on green tags and approvals from city or county inspectors, and always provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
Utility Technicians will review and sign off on jobs, yellow CIR’s, Maintenance CIR’s, Leak Cards, Anode Cards, SRO’s, Leak Survey’s, Atmospheric Corrosion Surveys, Electronic Pressure Recorders, Monthly Charts, Dig-IN’s and Equipment Check Books. Responsibly for ensuring completeness and accuracy in all aspects of work.
Required to ensure equipment checks, patrolling, are done accurately and completed on schedule.
Responsible for assisting with preparation for QA Audits, Pre-Audits and Audits. Responsible for maintaining the records room which includes creating annual binders, moving out old records and purging files as needed. Responsible for keeping all paper manuals up to date with the latest versions.
Responsible for maintaining the Curtailment Plan, the Emergency Equipment List and the Emergency Valve List in the Emergency Plan.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Prefer experience in gas transmission, distribution, construction & operations preferred.
- Prefer experience in performing compliance, financial or operational reviews preferred.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills and knowledge of computer programs.
- A combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
- Must be detail oriented and have ability to meet deadlines.
- Prefer forklift certification.
- Each employee who may be required to perform an operation, maintenance, or emergency-response function on a pipeline and/or pipeline facility shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and then be placed in the company's DOT random testing pool and subject to all phases of DOT testing. This requirement will remain in force even if the employee performing the "covered functions" and/or "safety-sensitive functions" could/would only perform this function one a week, month, or even once a year.
Qualified applicants will be given a written test and must get 75% or better to proceed in the interview process.
