JOB SUMMARY: Ashland Greene, a Dallas-based owner/operator of Class B & C multifamily properties, is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to lead all corporate and property-level accounting functions across our portfolio and affiliated companies?Ashland Greene Capital Partners, AG Living (Property Management), and Ashland Greene Construction.
This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department, including financial reporting, monthly close, audits, tax compliance, accounts payable, cash management, and internal controls. The VP will ensure accounting accuracy and consistency across all entities while supporting strategic initiatives through reliable reporting and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting Oversight:
Lead and manage the corporate and property accounting teams, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements.
Oversee the monthly close process, account reconciliations, journal entries, and intercompany eliminations for all Ashland Greene entities.
Ensure proper revenue recognition and expense allocation across all departments and entities.
Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Supervise and ensure the accuracy of Accounts Payable, including vendor setup, invoice approvals, coding, and payment processing.
Oversee the cash management process, including daily monitoring, reconciliations, and reporting across property and corporate bank accounts.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Direct the preparation of consolidated financial reports and entity-level financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal guidelines.
Ensure compliance with lender requirements, including preparation and review of debt covenant calculations and submission of financial packages.
Lead the external audit process and coordinate preparation of audit schedules and requested materials.
Oversee annual income tax and franchise tax filings, working with third-party tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Manage quarterly investor reporting, including the calculation and distribution of investor distributions.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Support the preparation and oversight of annual property and corporate operating budgets and reforecasts, ensuring alignment with accounting data and controls.
Provide monthly budget-to-actual variance reports and assist department leaders in understanding financial performance.
Leadership & Strategy:
Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team, including Property Accountants, Staff Accountants, and AP Clerks.
Partner with HR, Operations, Construction, and Legal departments to support cross-functional financial needs and ensure data consistency.
Evaluate, select, and implement accounting technology tools to improve efficiency and scalability, including workflow automation and integrations with property management systems.
Continuously identify and lead process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in financial operations.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or related field.
Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role, preferably in real estate.
Preferred:
CPA designation.
Experience with real estate property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage).
Multifamily or value-add real estate experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Deep understanding of GAAP accounting, audit processes, and internal controls.
Expertise in property-level accounting, including CAM reconciliations, loan escrows, and capital expenditure tracking.
Strong background in accounts payable, vendor management, and payment workflows.
Ability to review and interpret financial statements, general ledgers, and bank reconciliations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting/reporting systems (Yardi/RealPage strongly preferred).
Proven ability to manage audits, tax filings, and multiple entity structures.
Ability to lead and mentor accounting teams through growth and change.
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and highly organized.
