About the Role

As Vice President, Talent, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, ensuring a robust, self-replenishing pipeline of world-class talent to meet the evolving needs of Thomson Reuters. In this pivotal role, you will build and execute integrated, end-to-end talent strategies that support organizational growth and transformation, with a particular focus on upskilling our leaders and colleagues—including developing capabilities in AI and digital tools. You will provide thought leadership and hands-on execution across all aspects of talent management, working collaboratively with HR and business leaders to embed a talent-first mindset throughout the organization. Leveraging your external perspective and understanding of market trends, you will drive the talent, culture, and processes that support both our people and our business objectives—especially as we embrace new technologies and support business transformation.

We are seeking a pragmatic and business-driven leader, ideally with experience in SaaS and technology environments, who excels in designing and delivering best-in-class talent strategies across succession planning, key talent identification and acceleration, talent mobility, leadership and organizational development, executive development, and the deployment of innovative learning and career growth initiatives.

Location: You will work in a hybrid environment and be based in one our North American hub locations (Minneapolis, Dallas, Ann Arbor, New York, Toronto)

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Strategy & Business Transformation

  • Build, integrate, and execute end-to-end talent strategies aligned with business objectives and transformation goals, with a focus on supporting the organization as it evolves and innovates.

  • Ensure that inclusion and belonging strategies are embedded in talent programs and practices , ensuring every employee feels valued, respected, and able to contribute fully to the organization’s success.

  • Lead the adoption and deployment of AI tools and digital solutions within the talent team to enhance efficiency, analytics, and decision-making.

  • Champion AI-driven upskilling and capability-building for leaders and colleagues, ensuring the workforce is prepared for the future of work.

  • Bring external perspective and understanding of HR and technology market trends to drive talent, culture, and processes that support transformation.

Learning & Development

  • Articulate and implement a comprehensive L&D strategy and roadmap that enables continuous talent growth, with a particular emphasis on AI, digital skills, and agile methodologies.

  • Drive innovative, measurable learning solutions, leveraging digital, classroom, blended, and microlearning programs to support upskilling and reskilling.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in upskilling/reskilling strategy, employee and leadership capability enhancement, instructional design, learning needs assessment, and program evaluation.

  • Ensure learning and talent practices are integrated with other enterprise HR initiatives (e.g., career development, performance enablement, workforce planning).

Leadership Development & Succession Planning

  • Oversee the design and delivery of world-class leadership development offerings to accelerate key talent, build a robust leadership pipeline, and support succession planning at all levels.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define key talent segments and develop distinctive talent propositions to attract, develop, and retain top talent.

  • Ensure successful onboarding and accelerated impact for new leaders and executives.

AI & Digital Transformation

  • Partner with business leaders and HR to identify emerging skill needs related to AI and digital transformation, and ensure the workforce is equipped to meet these demands.

  • Guide the integration of AI-powered analytics and talent tools to enhance talent identification, assessment, and development processes.

  • Foster a culture of experimentation, learning, and agility as AI capabilities are embedded across the organization.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor to the Chief Talent Officer, HR, and executive leadership, providing expert guidance on talent, learning, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Build strong partnerships with business and HR leaders, as well as external vendors and partners, to deliver high-impact talent initiatives.

  • Facilitate best-practice sharing across the HR and Talent community, leveraging both internal expertise and external research.

About You

You are a fit for the Vice President, Talent role if you possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience building and leading integrated talent, learning, and leadership development functions in large, global organizations—ideally with SaaS or technology sector exposure.

  • Demonstrated expertise in talent management, succession planning, organizational development, and learning strategy, with a track record of supporting business transformation and digital upskilling.

  • Experience deploying AI tools or digital solutions within HR/talent functions, and a strong understanding of how AI is shaping the future of work.

  • Ability to build trust-based partnerships and influence at all levels, including executive and board.

  • Strong business acumen; adept at translating talent and learning strategies into commercial and transformational value.

  • Advanced consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Passionate about innovation, continuous learning, and fostering a high-performance, agile culture.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 1 0 + years’ progressive leadership experience in talent, L&D, or related HR disciplines.

  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • Deep knowledge of AI, digital tools, and emerging trends in HR technology.

  • Strong track record in designing and implementing enterprise-wide talent and learning programs.

  • High integrity, discretion, and a commitment to people development and business transformation.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.

Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $197,540 - $366,860.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $171,500 - $318,500.

This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
