Summary
The Vocational Technical Instructor shall provide forklift, heavy equipment, construction site safety and basic tool operations instruction for the Joint Base in Charleston, SC.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Planning and scheduling lesson topics and training in both one-on-one and classroom settings.
- Operate, maintain, and perform minor repair of forklift vehicles.
- Prepare, maintain, and keep current all training records for each prisoner enrolled in the Vocational training program.
- Monitor prisoner classroom workstation usage (unauthorized/authorized material)
- Manage the prisoner library.
- Monitor all work, operation sequence, prisoner education and training assignments; and,
- Always maintain accountability of prisoners.
- Create, supplement, and manage a lesson plan that outlines vocational education and training daily activities which includes classroom instruction and life skills training in one-on-one and group settings.
- Vocational Technical Instructor must demonstrate procedures, answer questions, and provide and/or coordinate the delivery of education and training for prisoners. Instructor will provide prisoner classroom schedule(s) to the COR monthly, to ensure schedules do not conflict with other BRIG activities.
Requirements
- Must have a High School Education or GED.
- Current Sponsor Representative/Craft Instructor certification through the National Center for Construction Education and Research or capable of obtaining certification within 60 days of employment.
- Heavy Equipment Operator experience preferred but not required.
- Must pass Background Check
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a Correctional Facility preferred.
- Military experience preferred.
