Schedule: Full-time (35 hours/week); typically Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm with flexibility on exact hours; occasional evening or weekend hours
About the Position

Northbrook Public Library is looking for dynamic, people-focused professional to step into the role of Volunteer Coordinator and Human Resources Assistant in our Administration Department. This unique position combines the heart of volunteer engagement with the operational backbone of human resources. You’ll lead the charge on our vibrant volunteer program recruiting, training, and celebrating the individuals who generously give their time to the Northbrook Public Library—while also supporting essential HR functions that keep our staff informed engaged, and supported.

Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with sound judgment and a knack for balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic, people-driven environment.

- Build relationships with warmth, clarity, and professionalism
- Have experience in volunteer coordination, human resources, or a related people-centered field
- Demonstrate strong administrative and computer skills (MS Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.)
- Can maintain sensitive information with integrity and discretion
- Have supported or helped implement HR policies, procedures, or initiatives
- Are familiar with—or eager to learn about—employment law, equity and inclusion practices, and public service values
