Vice President of Investor Relations

Rapid7 is looking for a strategic, action-oriented, and collaborative leader to be our next Vice President of Investor Relations. This is a highly visible role at a pivotal time in our growth, as we scale to a $1 billion+ ARR company.

About the Team

Reporting to the SVP of Finance, the VP of Investor Relations will be an integral part of the overall Finance team and will be responsible for defining and executing on our communication strategy to the investor community.

About the Role

The VP of Investor Relations will be the strategic leader responsible for managing the relationship between the company and the investment community. This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive investor relations strategy, including handling all financial communications and public disclosures. You’ll act as the primary liaison with investors and analysts, providing key market insights to the executive team while ensuring all external messaging is accurate and aligned with the company's strategic goals.

Specifically, your focus will be to:

  • Define our IR program strategy to enhance our Investor Relations reach & experience to broaden Rapid7’s global investor exposure and engagement as we scale.

  • Lead all public messaging and reporting requirements including Investor story, quarterly earnings messaging, Investor engagement, annual report, etc.

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to define and evolve a compelling narrative that enables the investor community in understanding our large market opportunity and our strategy for capturing that market.

  • Lead our quarterly earnings and investor engagement cycle including ongoing review of internal performance and metrics and development of key earnings messages, scripts, presentations, and other supporting materials.

  • Lead planning and execution of critical milestone events like Investor Day.

  • Build and maintain deep company and industry awareness to serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders including senior leadership, legal, finance, public relations and product teams.

  • Manage and communicate Board level reporting and engagement around our Investor Relations program.

  • Support an ESG program and communication strategy, inclusive of managing public disclosures, tracking and influencing company ESG ratings, and publishing regular ESG reports to meet the needs of key stakeholders.

  • Monitoring, reviewing and summarizing financial research, key company events and industry updates to provide ongoing proactive feedback loop and insights to internal audiences.

  • Extend our market and business intelligence through formal executive reporting of absolute and relative business and market performance and perform more operational peer benchmarking to inform corporate strategy and structure decisions.

  • Leading ad-hoc data exploration and initiatives as needed by executive leadership to support IR messaging or other key internal objectives.


The skills and qualities you’ll bring include:

  • 15+ years of experience in public-market facing roles, such as corporate investor relations or buy- and sell-side equity research. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with knowledge of equity and debt capital markets.

  • Strategic & Accountable Leader: This role requires a professional who can translate vision into tangible results, demonstrating a clear understanding of long-term goals and a capacity to execute a clear, step-by-step plan. You must be highly accountable, taking ownership of responsibilities and outcomes while holding yourself and others to high standards.

  • Adaptable Communicator: You must excel at operating in dynamic, fast-paced environments with the ability to execute on initiatives with limited structure or definition, effectively navigating change and ambiguity. Your outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, will be critical for articulating ideas persuasively and building strong external relationships with the investment community.

  • Collaborative & Empathetic: A collaborative mindset is essential for building exceptional internal networks and a high emotional intelligence is required to interface effectively with senior executives, finance, accounting, legal, public relations, and other teams. You must be skilled at managing conflict constructively and respectfully.

  • Data-Driven Decision-Maker: You will use your strong analytical and financial modeling skills to make timely, sound, and well-reasoned decisions, providing valuable insights to the leadership team. You must possess a proactive approach, anticipating needs before they are asked.

  • Self-Awareness: You will embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence, driving meaningful impact and collective success. A commitment to continuous personal and professional development is a key part of this role.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or equivalent experience is required. An MBA and/or CFA is preferred.
