The Whiskey Librarian plays a central role in creating a one-of-a-kind tasting room experience at Big Machine Distillery. This individual serves as both storyteller and host—welcoming guests, leading immersive tours and experiences, guiding tastings, and ensuring each guest's experience reflects the quality and culture of our brand.
Reporting directly to the Manager Lead and General Manager, this role requires a confident, hospitality-driven professional who embodies the spirit of Big Machine, inspires guests and teammates, and supports the overall success of the tasting room.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Ambassador & Leadership
- Always represent yourself and the Company professionally, both on and off the clock.
- Serve as a proactive problem-solver and leader, fostering a positive and productive culture.
- Partner with management to support the vision and growth of the Whiskey Library and tasting room.
Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Warmly welcome and engage guests upon arrival, delivering exceptional service at all times.
- Conduct engaging and educational distillery tours, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the brand story, production process, and evolving tour script.
- Lead tastings and guided promotions to generate excitement, increase product sales, and build lasting guest connections.
- Prepare and serve spirit samples and craft cocktail beverages
- Educate guests on our distilling process, company history, and full portfolio of products.
Sales & Operations
- Actively communicate product features and benefits to positively represent the brand and drive sales.
- Assist in retail operations including merchandise sales, restocking, and inventory management.
- Support front-of-house operations and teammates as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment, ensuring all areas reflect Big Machine’s premium brand standards.
Events & Activations
- Assist with private events, brand activations, and special experiences hosted in the Whiskey Library.
- Support setup, execution, and breakdown of events as needed.
Additional Duties
- Monitor supplies and replenish stock (napkins, coasters, straws, glassware, bar tools, etc.) throughout shifts.
- Stay knowledgeable about current promotions, sales initiatives, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Compensation & Benefits
- $15/hour plus tip share (after training)
- $15/hour (no tips) for initial 2-week training period
- Eligibility for company-provided medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits subject to plan terms
- Bi-weekly payroll (every other Friday)
