Business Analyst (AI) - Mining - 6 months
Job description
Salary: $65 - $100 p.h. + + Super
- 6-month contract supporting a major mining organisation's AI program and investment portfolio.
- Commercially focused role shaping and reviewing AI business cases, benefits, risks, costs and value-realisation assumptions.
- Broad AI governance and PMO exposure spanning steering committees, financial governance, cybersecurity, privacy, data, responsible AI and assurance.
Our client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the development, assessment and governance of AI initiatives across a major mining organisation. This role will provide commercial analysis, investment discipline and PMO support to help ensure AI initiatives are well structured, appropriately governed and capable of delivering measurable value.
Key responsibilities
Develop well-structured, evidence-based and commercially sound business cases for AI initiatives.
Review costs, benefits, risks, resource requirements, timelines, dependencies and value-realisation assumptions.
Provide constructive commercial challenge to proposals and recommendations supporting investment and prioritisation decisions.
Track approved initiatives against business cases, including budget, progress, risks, outcomes and realised benefits.
Support AI program governance processes, standards, decision rights and approval pathways.
Coordinate governance forums and steering committees, including agendas, papers, minutes, actions and decision records.
Review alignment with financial, operational, legal, risk, cybersecurity, privacy, data and responsible-AI requirements.
Provide PMO support including stakeholder coordination, action tracking, documentation, process improvement, audit and assurance activities.
Ideal background
Business analysis, PMO, investment governance, strategy or commercial analysis experience in a complex organisation.
Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing business cases and investment proposals.
Strong financial and benefits-analysis capability, including value-realisation tracking.
Experience supporting governance forums, steering committees and executive decision-making.
Ability to challenge assumptions constructively and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.
Exposure to technology, digital, data, AI or transformation programs highly desirable.
Mining/resources experience advantageous.
Understanding of technology risk, cybersecurity, privacy, data governance and responsible AI desirable.
