HBO Max is WarnerMedia’s direct-to-consumer (DTC) offering debuting in May 2020. With over 10,000 hours of curated premium content anticipated at launch, HBO Max will offer powerhouse programming for everyone in the home, bringing together HBO, a robust slate of new original series, key third-party licensed programs and movies, and fan favorites from WarnerMedia’s rich library, including Warner Bros., New Line, DC, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes, and more.

Our DTC team is laying the foundation for HBO Max, and we need highly motivated, uniquely skilled, and technically agile experts across a variety of disciplines to accomplish things that have never been done before.

The Job

The Publishing Business Manager is responsible for detailing and executing against an efficient project management process for the publishing team within HBOMax, ensuring lockstep coordination with the Editorial team. The Publishing Business Manager will drive the on-time completion of the publishing schedule activities and flag any concerns threatening the product publishing timeline. The Publishing Business Manager also plays a crucial role in making sure updates are communicated across the publishing team to keep the team aligned.

The Daily
  • Responsible for carrying out an efficient process to manage the project plan which includes publishing's core assignments, due dates, budget estimates, hand offs between teams, prioritization, and potential issues for successful delivery
  • Develop strong relationships and work within the publishing features and strategist teams supporting the completion of their publishing activities
  • Understand and utilize publishing's process, structure and reporting cadence for accomplishing open items and flagging open issues, helping solution issues as possible
  • Track open publishing project issues and enable efforts to find resolution by enlisting and identifying the necessary direction to needed resources
  • Report to the Publishing PM and provide updates for upcoming activities and open issues
  • Anticipate planning needs for upcoming features, new content, campaigns and content refresh cadence
  • Leverage the editorial calendar, publishing schedule and features roll out plan to understand the necessary requirements and dates for leading projects to completion
The Essentials
  • 3+ years of experience in project management
  • Experience in a large program management and/or operations environment
  • Knowledge of competitive landscape including SVOD and OTT services as well as deep knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Understanding of project management processes and methodologies for governance and tracking
  • Ability to quickly understand and operate comfortably within complex ecosystems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and accountable
