Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Visiting Researcher for the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Visiting Researcher conducts specialized research investigating 1) the regulation of purinergic signaling and the regulation of hepatic immune cell function, including Kupffer cells, using targeted probes and digital imaging microscopy; 2) studies of in vivo drugs targeting hepatic purinoceptors.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development. Evaluates existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Compiles data and presents results.
  • Records and analyzes data from experiments.
  • Maintains a proper data notebook pursuant to the standards of the Department and the PI.
  • Maintains hepatocyte and Kupffer cell cultures for single cell and biochemical studies.
  • Carries out imaging studies using digital imaging fluorescence microscopy of single cells and intact tissue.
  • Understands concepts and mechanisms of purinergic signaling.
  • Prepares solutions and experimental chemicals for use in studies.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the laboratory facilities, equipment and instruments.

Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
