Sycamore Hills Dentistry is currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant Specialist. Dental experience preferred but not required.
Position Summary
The Dental Bookkeeper/Accountant is responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts receivable for patient and insurance billing. You’ll post payments, track and reconcile accounts, follow up on unpaid balances, and collaborate closely with insurance carriers, patients, and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure prompt payment.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle AR management: Generate invoices, post electronic and manual payments (EFT, checks, credit cards), apply adjustments and write-offs, and reconcile accounts
- Patient billing & collections: Send statements, make collection calls, manage aging reports, establish payment plans, and escalate delinquencies after 60–90 days.
- Reconciliation & reporting: Run and review AR aging and cash collection reports,
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with front-desk, clinical, RCM, and management teams to verify insurance coverage, resolve discrepancies, and improve billing processes
Qualifications
- College Education Preferred
- 2+ years of experience in dental account receivables, billing, or medical insurance collections preferred
- Skilled in dental billing systems (e.g. Open Dental), and proficient in Microsoft Office—especially Excel—for reporting.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, CDT codes, insurance policies and HIPAA compliance
- Excellent communication and customer service skills for interactions with patients and payors
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
Preferred Competencies
- Experience with claims adjudication and insurance appeals.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
