Job Summary:
Design and implementation of truancy prevention/attendance support programs for Cattaraugus County School Districts.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human/Youth Services preferred.
- Minimum of an Associates’ Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services or a relevant field, plus three years of experience with youth and human services
- Familiarity with public school programs and policies preferred

- Must have valid driver’s license, insurability, and reliable transportation.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and motivation to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team and with the general public.
- Understanding of Trauma Informed Care and the ability to operate within an empathic, person-centered framework.
- Openness to learning new skills and technology as necessary; must participate in training as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand and carry out the truancy prevention/attendance support program work plan and objectives for local school districts.
- Become conversant regarding truancy prevention models and best practices.
- Establish rapport with school officials, the Department of Social Services, youth and their families.
- Develop Attendance Support Teams in each school to support the objectives of the program.
- Communicate attendance policies and expectations to parents and students in a variety of forms.
- Analyze individual factors contributing to each student's truancy or tardiness pattern; develop Truancy/Tardiness Intervention Plans with each student and family based on those individual factors.
- Connect students and families with internal and external programs, and supports, to assist them in meeting their attendance goals, including but not limited to counseling, bullying program implementation, academic intervention, transportation, etc.
- Provide incentives to students and families for meeting their objectives.
- Connect with families via regular home visits.
- Develop sanctions for students and families who do not comply with attendance requirements.
- Responsible to comply with all funding source regulations, for creating a safe environment, and to report any unsafe situations to the immediate supervisor.
- Must be enthusiastic about promoting the mission of CCA, be willing to work towards the good of the entire agency, and to act as an ambassador of CCA throughout the community.
