Ameresco has a new opportunity for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Site Manager to join our team in Southern California. The BESS Site Manager will have responsibility for site safety, subcontractor management, cost control, asset maintenance, and overall project performance and reliability. This role will manage and conduct operations and maintenance activities associated with (3) BESS sites at Rancho Cucamonga, Long Beach, and Springville, CA.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute all required tasks and meet the performance measures outlined in the Ameresco contract.
  • Manage all aspects of the BESS projects, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and resiliency.
  • Responsible for site safety and compliance with all environmental regulations.
  • Develop safe operating procedures and ensure they are followed by vendors and all site personnel.
  • Perform preventative/corrective maintenance of BESS assets per OEM and industry best practices.
  • Investigate all faults, alarms, and other site related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage sub-contractors and ensure their work is performed in a safe manner and as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Effectively communicate items of importance to internal/external stakeholders. Notify key stakeholders immediately of issues that impact safety or project performance.
  • Meet all training requirements for this role, including customer required training.
  • Obtain and maintain customer site access credentials.
  • Responsible for daily reporting to Ameresco leadership and the customer regarding all aspects of the project.
  • Utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule, execute, and track all maintenance activities.
  • Develop key performance indicators for site production and vendor performance. Ensure metrics are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).
  • Utilize data acquisition systems to analyze, interpret, and recommend performance improvements.
  • Travel as required and provide ‘on call’ support.
  • Establish a collaborative and cooperative working environment. Ensure all project personnel act professionally and function as a team.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Energy Management, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 5-years of experience in renewable energy industry (BESS, PV, Wind).
  • Ability to review confidential US security information.
  • Valid driver’s license issued by state of residence and in good standing.
Additional Qualifications:
  • 7-years of experience in power generation operations & maintenance management in utility-scale and/or C&I settings.
  • Must be able to travel to sites and 24/7 ‘on-call’ support is required. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Proficient in remotely identifying problems and recommending corrective measures.
  • Experienced in interfacing with OEM vendors for solutions and site mobilizations.
  • Advanced experience developing maintenance schedules, planning work scopes, managing outcomes, and supervising industrial electricians, operations and maintenance personnel, and other skilled trades.
  • Relevant experience and understanding of BESS systems, PV systems, inverters, and industrial controls.
  • Advanced knowledge of electricity, both AC and DC, Arc Flash Hazards, and electrical and electronic testing equipment.
  • Strong verbal/written communications, computer, and organizational skills.
