Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with experience in small business accounting environments. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software including QuickBooks Online and Sage 50 and a solid understanding of financial concepts, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
This is either a full-time role bookkeeping for three businesses in Northern California or a part-time role at one site. Requires in-person work at least one day per month per company. Role requires ability to travel to sites in Hayward, Fairfield and Newcastle California.

Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records through double entry bookkeeping
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Assist in payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations
- Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Support budgeting processes by providing necessary financial data
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks Online and Sage 50 for efficient record keeping
- Ensure adherence to GAAP standards in all financial reporting activities
Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Sage 50) is essential
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and GAAP principles
- Experience with small business accounting is preferred
- Familiarity with technical accounting practices and financial report writing
- Ability to perform account reconciliations accurately and efficiently
- Excellent skills in managing debits & credits and general ledger accounting
- Strong attention to detail with effective 10 key typing skills for data entry tasks
- Knowledge of budgeting processes and payroll management is a plus
