Program Overview
Launched by Youth Villages, Memphis Allies is a bold collaborative initiative, bringing together community groups and resources to reduce gun violence and create safer neighborhoods and more opportunity for adults and their families.
Position Overview
Our Community Relations Coordinator job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Educating the community on the Memphis Allies initiative.
- Developing and strengthening relationships with schools, other community organizations, businesses, and faith-based ministries.
- Collaborating with key local stakeholders involved directly or indirectly with reducing gun violence.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage with community members and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships. Increase portfolio pipeline within respective regions.
- Participate in the preparation of communication materials that will be used during partner presentations and disseminated at community events.
- Plan, Develop and Organize Volunteers to implement community outreach programs and coordinate special events that promote the Memphis Allies initiative.
- Plan, Lead and Facilitate the Stage 3 Community Action Project for participants in SWITCH programming.
- Conduct research to understand community needs, interests, and demographics, and use this data to inform program development.
- Attend community meetings, events and forums to represent the organization and network with community leaders and residents.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred. (Degrees that can be considered include but are not limited to: Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Education, Psychology and Social Work.) High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in community outreach or public relations.
- Experience in planning and executing events, including logistics and vendor management and budgeting.
- Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse groups including community members, organization, and stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related writing and presentation software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
