POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Building Services, the Coordinating Manager supports the Director in all aspects of the functions associated with Building Services and acts for the Director in his/her absence. The incumbent of this position will assist in managing daily activities and operations of the staff involved in Building Services and facilities throughout the school system. The Coordinating Manager will assist the Director in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and will supervise assigned personnel working in Building Services.

Detailed Description
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Coordinates the overall objectives for the proper maintenance and operations of all school system facilities;
- Manages the overall operations and services of Building Services, including the supervision of assigned personnel;
- Coordinates the functions and activities of the department to include: facility maintenance, environmental services, plant operations and other related building services;
- Conducts routine and specialized reporting requiring data collection and analysis; prepares and presents specialized reports;
- Provides consultation, guidance and technical assistance on matters related to building services, including assisting in the development of department-specific manuals, procedures and forms;
- Interprets Board policies and procedures to staff and recommends policies and procedures pertinent to the efficient and effective operations of Building Services;
- Completes staff evaluation activities as assigned and oversees the office and staff in the absence of, or at the direction of, the Director;
- Develops and/or participates in training and professional development activities;
- Represents Building Services at meetings and conferences as requested to give and receive information along with establishing collaborative relationships with other offices and agencies;
- Assists with the development of the office budget and develops priorities within budgetary limitations;
- Develops innovative solutions for identified issues and problems; translates information into strategic action plans; provides logistical and administrative support and leadership to ensure seamless and efficient services;
- Works to develop new and innovative ways to evaluate and continually improve processes to deliver high quality customer service; designs or refines strategies and plans around areas of opportunity;
- Develops and revises Administrative Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and other processes and procedures to ensure the district is in compliance with all local, state and federal requirements; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of building, equipment and grounds maintenance, environmental services and plant operations;
- Ability to coordinate multiple functions simultaneously;
- Highly skilled in verbal and written communication to convey a wide variety of information to diverse audiences in an understandable and acceptable manner, using a variety of methods;
- Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions and devise practical recommendations for action;
- Knowledge of Prince Georges County Public Schools mission and organizational structure;
- Ability to work effectively as a team member or independently; actively participate as a member of a team to move the team towards goal attainment;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Applications, and skilled in using the internet for work related research;
- Ability to analyze issues, shift priorities and cope with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment; and
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, construction management, business administration or a related field preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of previous experience overseeing/supervising facility maintenance, building operations and/or environmental services to include project budgeting, development and management.
