Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Front Desk Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient service and administrative support within our medical office. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in various medical software, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding. The Front Desk Agent will be the first point of contact for patients and will ensure a smooth and efficient operation at the front desk.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out procedures.
- Manage multi-line phone systems to handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, and address patient inquiries.
- Verify insurance information and perform insurance verification for patients.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar for patient management.
- Assist with medical billing and coding tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and documentation review.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing health information management tasks.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and ensure seamless patient service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (ICD coding), and billing processes is essential.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite; typing skills are required.
- Experience with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with excellent phone etiquette.
- Ability to communicate effectively; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of dental terminology may be beneficial for dental office settings.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in handling patient records and administrative tasks.
