Position Title: Dental Receptionist
Reports To: Office Manager / Dentist
Job Summary:
The Dental Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients visiting the dental office. This role involves managing patient appointments, maintaining patient records, handling communication, and ensuring the office operates smoothly. The receptionist is responsible for providing excellent customer service, both in person and over the phone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and provide information about services, insurance, and office policies.
- Ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients.
- Collect patient information (e.g., insurance details)
- Appointment Scheduling & Management:
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Send appointment reminders via phone, text, or email.
- Manage appointment cancellations and no-shows.
- Data Entry & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate patient records in the office’s database.
- Update patient charts with medical history, treatment plans, and payment details.
- Handle insurance verification and process claims as required.
- Insurance:
- Collect patient payments (e.g., copays, balances).
- Administrative Support:
- Assist in managing office supplies, ordering dental materials, and maintaining stock levels.
- Handle patient inquiries and direct them to the appropriate staff member when needed.
- Ensure the waiting area and reception area are clean, organized, and presentable.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with the dental team, ensuring they are aware of patient needs or changes in schedules.
- Relay important information regarding patient care or office procedures to staff and patients.
- Compliance & Confidentiality:
- Ensure that patient records are handled in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and office policies.
- Adhere to all regulatory and safety standards to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in office administration or dental assisting is a plus.
- Experience: Prior experience in a dental office or customer service role is preferred.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

Working Hours:

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
