Digital Communications Student Intern
Location: Hybrid – Dixboro United Methodist Church, Ann Arbor, MI
Hours: 4 hours/week
Compensation: $65/week
Duration: 6 months + 6 months (2nd half contingent on successful completion of 1st half)
Start Date: Rolling, with immediate availability preferred
Overview:
Dixboro United Methodist Church (DUMC) is seeking a motivated and creative student to serve as a Digital Communications Intern. This part-time hybrid role is ideal for a selfstarter looking to gain hands-on experience in digital media, communications, and nonprofit work. You will play a key role in how our church shares its message an connects with the community each week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and create content for DUMC’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Design PowerPoint slides for Sunday services and other presentations
- Format and prepare the weekly digital and print bulletin using provided templates
- Assist in updating and maintaining the church website with current events and media
- Support overall digital strategy and communications planning
- Attend occasional in-person meetings or events as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong written communication and design skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content scheduling
- Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and basic web editing platforms
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with photography and basic image editing
- Understanding of church communications or previous involvement in a faith-based setting
- Familiarity with the United Methodist Church
Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled as a student (undergraduate or graduate)
- Must have reliable transportation for occasional on-site responsibilities
- Availability for a consistent weekly schedule (4 hours total), with flexibility for remote work
