Children’s Wisconsin was founded by community volunteers and ever since opening our doors, the contributions of volunteers has helped the organization evolve to a top-ranked pediatric enterprise focused on caring for every aspect of child health: physical, dental, social and mental health.
The Director, Volunteer Leadership, is responsible for managing core operations of volunteerism to support Children’s engagement and philanthropy work. The Director will lead the volunteer experience continuum from identification and recruitment; deepening engagement and retention; recognition and expressing gratitude; tracking and reporting comprehensive impact on the advancement of Children’s mission both internally and externally. Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropy and System Liaison, this leader will give input to and implement the strategic direction of how volunteerism supports the goals of the health system’s strategic plan. This leader will also work to intentionally partner with system teams like marketing and communications, patient experience, grateful family, etc. to integrate and leverage how volunteerism can advance work plans and promote Children’s as a premiere destination for volunteerism in Wisconsin.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in applicable field required.
Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) preferred .
Experience
Job knowledge generally acquired through a minimum of ten years of progressive leadership and volunteer engagement experience in an administrative capacity. Preferably in a healthcare institution or community organization.

- Demonstrates strategic mind-set, initiative, and problem solving ability to make independent decisions as necessary.
- Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with volunteers, staff, donors, prospects and the general public and to represent the health system to external organizations in a professional manner.
- Extensive knowledge of program development in customer service programs.
- Demonstrates high situational adaptability.
