job Summary (Primary function)
The Director Regional Payer Accounts will lead customer engagement strategies, manage Regional Payer customer relationships, and deliver profitable access, reimbursement, and appropriate policy for Incyte brands and collaborate with Sales Leadership to drive performance of Regional and National Payers. As the strategic lead, you will develop strategy and manage resources that foster positive access results. This position will serve as the Pull-through lead for your respective geographies and work closely with Sales, Field Access, Pharmacy Account and National Payer Teams to drive performance and address access challenges.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Establish and maintain access and appropriate policy for Incyte products at Regional customer accounts through commercialization of launch products and life cycle management of portfolio.
Drive payer access across regional Payers through alignment of National PBM wins
Identify, develop, and execute business opportunities by focusing on appropriate positioning and messaging of Incyte products with targeted customer segments to meet market share objectives.
Navigate organization to ensure that Incyte is building relationships with all key stakeholders, including creating engagement opportunities for other Incyte teams (e.g. HEOR, Medical Affairs, etc.).
Provide critical U.S. Payer landscape field intelligence to Senior Director, Payer and Patient Access.
Provide updates, direction, and input to Incyte leadership team and assist in the development of the overall market access strategy plan for Incyte’s products.
Interact with other personnel within the broader Market Access team and ultimately be responsible for the implementation of a strategical and tactical plan.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal cross functional teams, provide business updates to Leadership.
Reactively assist sales colleagues to resolve access issues through collaboration with FAM (Field Access Manager) and PAM Pharmacy Account Manager) partners.
Manage pull-through strategy by coordination and alignment of Sales, Field Access, Pharmacy Account, National Accounts, and HOL, while working with payer marketing on pull-through strategy.
Understand prescription level data to review and present performance (sales, trends, comparison, etc.).
Drive account performance by understanding analytics and applying insights.
Maintain awareness of industry trends
Develop and update Account level business plans annually. Present to Sr Director on bi-annual basis.
Complete Monthly Activity Report highlighting internal and external engagements
Active participation in weekly Payer Team and Regional Payer Team Calls
Represent Incyte as a steward to key events/conferences, expected to cover Congresses and national customer forums/meetings.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competencies)
Minimum of several years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with a preference for experience in Hematology/Oncology, Immunology, and Dermatology
A thorough understanding of Regional Account Management.
Direct experience with major health insurance plans in the Northeast such as BCBS Massachusetts, Horizon BCBS, Emblem, Excellus, Point 32, IBC, Capital Rx preferred.
Previous experience in team or sales leadership is preferred
Promotes a sense of urgency, establishing and upholding individual accountability
Drives results by tackling tough assignments and finding solutions with vigor
In-depth pharmaceutical market knowledge: including trends, government regulations, managed care (Commercial/ Medicaid/ Medicare/ Federal), sales and legal considerations.
In-depth understanding of payer/PBM economics and contracting, with a focus on key issues in the evolving US healthcare landscape, while valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing strategies in the field.
Ability to navigate a complex organization: ensure access and appropriate engagement with key stakeholders in assigned Regional accounts.
Cross functionally manages opportunities, diverse teams, and unique market events without direct leadership responsibility.
Minimum experience in any of the Market Access segments of the business: reimbursement, health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, & distribution, is preferred but not required. Relevant skills and knowledge can be demonstrated through various experiences.
Experience executing market access strategies for Payer accounts- Preferred
Strategic mindset with the ability to see the big picture and create strategies to sustain competitive advantage for Incyte products.
Ability to collaborate with regional Payers to strategically apply business practices and aligned strategies that will enable both organizations to meet business objectives.
Domestic travel up to 50% based on business needs and customer meetings.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
