Director of Next Generation Ministries

Trinity United Methodist Church in Lexington, VA seeks a part-time Director of Next Generation Ministries. This position averages 20-25 hours per week, and is fully funded for one year, beginning August 1, 2025, with the potential for extension.
The ideal candidate will:
- Connect and develop meaningful relationships with children, youth, and young adults within the membership of the church, and in the community – to include participation in church and community events.
- Work with the pastor and ministry teams to promote the Christian growth of all ages through education, connection, worship, and service opportunities.
- Develop and coordinate intergenerational programming that will help the church navigate the changing cultural climate in creative ways.
- Build and manage volunteer teams to implement ministry programming.
The ideal candidate will be a positive, energetic and fun team player who works well with others, displays a love for God, and has a passion for helping people – particularly young people – build connections with God, with each other, and with their communities.
Candidates should:
- Possess an understanding of United Methodist tradition, mission, and values. Theological education and training is a plus.
- Have hands-on experience in a church or community ministry setting.
- Have experience building in-person relationships, as well as proficiency in digital ministry strategies including social media, web, and online communities.
- Have an ability to network, build, and lead a team while working as a team member with church staff and lay leadership.
- Be committed to creating welcoming, inclusive, safe spaces for all people, including showing respect for different cultures and opinions.
Presence on Sunday mornings is expected.
$25,000-$30,000 depending on experience, commitments, and credentials.
