Assistant Managers are responsible for staff supervision, maintaining the health, safety, and comfort of our 4-legged guests, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Duties include:
- Supervising, training, and mentoring Dog Caretakers and/or Kennel Technicians
- Leading, monitoring, and managing groups of dogs
- Cleaning/sanitizing play areas, common areas, and crates
- Using software to make and modify boarding and daycare reservations, collect payments, and maintain up-to-date records
- Using verbal cues, body blocking, and proactive intervention to manage group interactions
- Spending time interacting with each dog individually and knowing their limits, play styles, and help signals
- Recording and reporting accurate info on the status, activities, health, and behavior of each dog to pet parents and the Manager
- Handling guests (dogs) at check-in and check-out
- Greeting new clients (people) and explaining the program and the benefits for their dog
- Documenting, storing, and organizing guests’ food, medications, and belongings
- Planning or initiating activities and games with dogs that keep arousal levels low while everyone has fun
- Tracking inventory and ordering supplies and equipment
Secondary duties include:
- Preparing and distributing meals, treats, fresh water, and medications
- Washing dishes and laundry
- Managing staff schedules
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of dog daycare, kennel, veterinary clinic, or shelter experience
- Passion for animal care and providing fun activities for dogs
- Excellent knowledge of dog behavior
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Physical ability to secure and handle large dogs
- Physical ability to clean and perform minor maintenance
Must have reliable transportation and follow all company policies and procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
