JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the English Learner (EL) Executive Director, the EL Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted academic second language and grade level supports to eligible EL scholars in all core content areas at GRPS.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Provide and deliver academic support services to eligible EL scholars
- Manage and maintain accurate scholar records
- Visit with identified scholars to identify suitable options and help resolve problems.
- Develop a positive relationship with scholars and school community and maintain constructive relationships with staff, scholars, and administration.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, and scholars in cooperative, supportive, and positive ways.
- Participate in district led EL PD (WIDA/ SIOP).
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience:
- ESL/Bilingual Spanish endorsement or Masters in TESOL
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate
- SIOP Training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of working with WIDA and Common State Standards.
- Demonstrated understanding of curriculum development processes.
- Experience working with at-risk learners and special needs.
- Ability to effectively function as a professional team member.
- High level organizational skills.
- Consistently demonstrated reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Possesses high level of communication skills (oral and written).
- Must be able to work effectively within a diverse urban community.
